Kol-Seal is a loss circulation material for cements. It is a light weight granular solid with a highly specific particle size distribution for the optimum control of loss circulation during slurry placement. Kol-Seal’s effectiveness in controlling lost circulation is due to the particle size distribution. The larger to medium size Kol-Seal particles bridge forming a network which retains the finer particles. Thus, a concentrated network of particles are deposited during loss circulation which forms a bridging seal across the surface of loss circulation zones.
Cementing Additives
Loss Circulation Material
PhenoSeal is an inert material ground from laminate sheets into hard flat chips of various sizes making it an effective LCM up to 500F. Its range of particle shape and size provides faster and more complete seal than other typical LCM materials on the market. PhenoSeal is proven to have the best cost to benefit ratio on the market and is compatible with water, cement, oil, and synthetic drilling fluids.
HT-Fiber is a complex blend of copolymer fibers that are effective up to 400°F. As an LCM it creates a dense network of fibers across loss zones and fissures. These fibers also alter the mechanical properties of the cement slurry by eliminating shrinkage and micro-cracks. By decreasing the cement’s permeability there is greater protection against corrosion, contamination, and drilling shock. The resulting cement slurry provides a more durable, better bonding cement sheath helping to eliminate the need for secondary cementing. In one pound of product there are over 1.5 billion strands of fiber.
SL-Spacer is an industry proven, highly effective spacer used to control moderate to severe loss circulation during cementing and drilling. The SL- Spacer is also an effective cement spacer used to displace drilling mud prior to cementing for improved cement bonding and subsequent bond logs. Where oil based or invert muds are displaced, surfactants are utilized to water wet the formation and pipe surfaces for enhanced bonding.
Naosi-G’s high reactivity with calcium in brines is used to build a barrier of “petrified cottage cheese” in lost circulation zones. If formation fluids are not very salty, with high calcium content, it is strongly recommended that calcium chloride brine preflush be used.
Compressive Strength Enhancing Additive
Compressive-SF is an industry proven alternative for the silica fume in silica fume cements used for its increased handling ease and low cost. Compressive-SF can be blown directly into a silo without blending with flyash that is required with silica fume, i.e., Silica-Poz, Silica-Blend, Silica-Lite, etc., further reducing costs. Compressive-SF, when used in the same concentrations as silica fume and mixed at the same density attains near identical compressive strengths as silica fume in cements.
Compressive STRI is a non-silicate compressive strength enhancing additive for cements and cement blends where higher compressive strength are desirable. Slurry yields can be extended and densities reduced while still obtaining higher compressive strengths considered desirable in completion cements. Compressive STRI was specifically designed to replace competitive type products at a much reduced cost while providing the same functionality. Compressive STRI’s non-silicate chemistry performs near identically to competitive products at less than 200F and an improved performance at greater than 200F.
